The Royal Ultra Sky Marathon Gran Paradiso is the ultimate synthesis between the wild, unspoiled nature of Gran Paradiso, the noble history of these mountains, and the spirit of skyrunning.
The Royal, the sky race of Gran Paradiso, is run on a 55 km course with an elevation gain of 4141 m, crossing 7 passes and reaching up to 3000 m in altitude, immersed in the spectacle of the pure wild nature of Italy’s first National Park, Gran Paradiso. The race starts at Lake Teleccio in the Piantonetto Valley and finishes at Lake Ceresole Reale.
The Royal is part of the Olympus of world Skyrunning.
The Royal is a race but above all it is an event. Each edition is like a choral work that sees the active participation of many people from the Orco Valley and more generally from the Baltea area, who magically manage to ignite the spirit of the Royal each time to welcome the best international skyrunning specialists to Gran Paradiso.
Each edition is dedicated to luminous figures, with a Royal spirit, to celebrate them but also to draw from their legend strength and inspiration in building the great event. Thus, in addition to the race, thematic complementary events are organized, ranging from history to sport: this is the "Grande Royal".
The partners of the Royal have never been mere sponsors: they are above all active and enthusiastic participants in contributing to the event, sharing the spirit that animates it.
